Writers on a journey to Phoksundo

Some of the famous writers of the country have toured the Phoksundo lake area located in Dolpa of Karnali state. To promote tourism, Concept Nepal, an organization of tourism workers run by youths, organized the trip for the writers.

The trekking campaign was named "Phoksundo-poetry travel 2076" and was started from 2nd of June. They had reached their destination by June 12. The writers walked for 3 days from Dolpa to Phoksundo after getting of on Suligad from vehicle. On their trip back to Kathmandu, they have reached jufal, Dolpa.

Poetry travellers have visited Phoksundo waterfall, Bon gumbas, Ringmo and Pugmo village and lake. Participants of the first ever poetry travel recited their poems and sang songs at the lakeside. They were welcomed by Tapiricha School en route. In the program organized by the school, the writers recited their composition while the students sang and danced.

Abhay Shrestha, Bhupin, Sagar udas, Ganesh Paudel, Heman yatri, Dipendrasingh Thapa, Hemanta Bibas, Devendra Basnet, Chandra Kafle, Surendra Rana, Krishna Bahadur Nepali, Kamal khatri, bishnu Parsad Devkota, Semduk Lama and Amrit Bhadgaule were the writers who set out on the journey.

Promoter of the trip was Nepal Tourism Board among the affiliates, Shey-Phoksundo municipal, Cultural Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry, Explore Dolpo Treks and Expedition, Destination Dolpo Travel and Trekking Company,and Thasung Chholing Gumba.

According to the trip Coordinator Amrit Bhadgaunle, a documentary, booklets and books will be published soon.

Concept Nepal has honored 4 artists for their contribution on preserving local folklore with award along with ten thousand nepalese rupees. They were honored at the program organized at the Phoksundo lakeside.

Among the honored were local musician Nima latar Baiji, folksingers Namdak Lama and Hoiser Dolma Baiji,  a social worker and a carpenter, Semduk Ankyal.

After receiving the award, singers Lama and Baiji sang a folk song while Baiji supported them with Tungna, a traditional musical instrument.

Awards were handed over by Chief of Thasung Chholing Gumba, Khenko Semduk Nima, Chairman of Shey-Phoksundo Municipal Ward 8, Nima Lama, Religious guru, Loteyi Lama, Chairman of the Faculty of Consumer Committee of Shey-Phoksundo National Park Area, Phurba Tenzing Buda.
