President Joe Biden said that the US will have enough supply of COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the summer to inoculate 300 million Americans.

On Thursday Biden announced the National Institutes of Health complex just outside Washington. Before that, he visited some of the nation's leading scientists on the frontlines, fighting against the disease.

The US will likely exceed Biden's goal of 100 million vaccine doses during his 100 days in office. More than 26 million shots have been delivered in the first three weeks.

Biden also announced on Thursday that the United States had secured contractual commitments from Moderna and Pfizer to deliver 600 million doses of vaccines by the end of July.

“We’re now on track to have enough supply for 300 million Americans by the end of July,” he announced.

The pace of vaccines can increase further if the third vaccine from drugmaker Johnson & Johnson gets approved.
