The three-shot vaccine produced by the Republic of Cuba is found to be 92.8% effective against the COVID-19.

The Abdala vaccine's efficacy is a sign for the poorer countries, especially in Latin America.

The other Cuban vaccine, Soberana, was found to be 62% effective just after two of its three shots.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel tweeted the good news of the scientists at the Finlay Institute and Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology making two very effective vaccines to combat COVID-19.

Cuba, with a better health care system than many richer countries including the US, is known for its medical and educational forwardness.

The Caribbean island under the US embargo was initially very successful to control the spread of the pandemic. The vaccines come at the right time as the country is requiring them to counter rapidly spreading variants.

The US blockade makes it difficult for the other vaccines to reach the island nation.
