Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York on Saturday on allegations of strangling, assault, and harassment, according to officials.

A lawyer for Majors stated that there is evidence that he is "entirely innocent." "Sunday's statement was made public.

The actor, who recently acted in Creed III and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, was reportedly embroiled in a marital altercation.

Saturday at 11 a.m., police responded to a 911 call made from an apartment in the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan.

“The victim informed police she was assaulted," a spokesperson for the NYPD said in a statement.

"Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident."

"The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”

As of Saturday night, he was no longer in police custody, an NYPD official confirmed to The Associated Press.

An actor's representative has denied any misconduct by Majors.

"He has done nothing wrong," his representative emailed the AP on Saturday. "We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

The US Army has paused its television advertising campaign showcasing Majors.

The Army Enterprise Marketing Office said in a statement Sunday that the US Army is “deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest.”

“While Mr Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete,” the office said in a statement.

Majors has appeared in Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall, and last year's Devotion since his breakthrough in The Last Black Man in San Francisco in 2019.

In December, Searchlight Pictures will release the Sundance Film Festival entry "Magazine Dreams," in which he also stars.
