Today’s parliament dissolution signals that the politics of Nepal is pushed into an uncharted territory. It is done amid the clash of party supremos for holding the power. PM’s step to proclaim mid-term general election, on the one hand, is an immaturity. Moreover, constitutional experts opine that his step is unconstitutional. It can be of political mission for the party but it’s not good for country. Untimely proclamation of election is an inexcusable dishonor of mandate as CPN was mandatory for five years. May the prime minister have had misunderstanding and tug-of-war with party leaders. Having had he could have made effort to meet the given date or he could patiently hand over the cabinet to co-leaders.

The unprecedented step taken by PM Oli doesn’t assist country to come out of pandemic as well as instability. It can be assumed that the election would be costly for power holders as well as people-   searching fresh mandate costs a lot for the country. Unnecessary ambition of obsolete leadership for holding the power has been a hurdle of development. Unless ambition-led politics ends, it is sure that the country remains as a backward and dependent.

Since 2047, the majority government has been unstable and accursed for people. The cost of dissolution of the government would be unexpected for the country because the outsiders most probably can play in political vacuum to create instability. The geopolitics of Nepal draws attention of super powers in a great deal. Nepal, as a buffer state, has some benefits and demerits as well.

Now, whatever has taken place that doesn’t mean we are bound to be victim but people have to be cautious to the parties, their activities and the unnoticed encroachment of super powers. While there are fissures in politics, it is sure that the country becomes playground for encroachers, leaving the nation nothing but just a political lab where various ‘power holders’ experiment.
