Wesley Allen Beeler of Front Royal, Virginia, was arrested Friday when he tried to enter a restricted area near the U.S. Capitol with unauthorized credentials. He was stopped by U.S. Capitol Police at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a loaded handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, according to a police report.

While one of the officers was checking Beeler’s credentials, another official noticed that he had several “firearm-related decals” on the rear windshield of his Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to police testimony filed in District of Columbia Superior Court on Saturday.

Beeler, 31, said he had a Glock pistol under the center armrest of his truck when the police asked him if he has any weapons, according to the court documents. Police found he had a 9 mm pistol, a loaded 17-round high capacity magazine that had bullets loaded to its firing chamber.

Police also found 509 9-mm rounds of hollow point and ball ammunition, and also 21 shotgun shells. According to the testimony, the shotgun shells and the pistol were both as if in plain sight.

Police have said that his credentials were not authorized to enter the restricted area as they were “non-government-issued credential.”

Capitol Area is under security lockdown following the Capitol hill riots on January 6.
