Man taken into the custody after being suspected of trying to break into a hospital

A man previously convicted for stealing surgical supplies from the hospital in San Bernardino in January 2020 was arrested on Thursday for trying to break into the same facility.

Roy Chi Wing Lung, a 54-year-old resident of Aliso Viejo was taken into custody on the suspicion of attempted burglary and violence of probation. San Bernadino police said on Sunday, February 14 via a news release.

He was recognized by the investigators with the help of security at the Dignity Heath- St Bernardine Medical Center. 

Lung was convicted of burglary in June and was placed on probation, according to the court records.

Hospital staff saw someone resembling Lung trying to force open doors and get into the building on Sunday, Dec. 27, police said.

That person managed to run away that day. Security filed a report on Jan. 7, and police were able to obtain a warrant for his arrest.

Lung was held at the West Valley Detention Center on Sunday in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to inmate records.
