Netflix is doing a trial testing intending to prevent password sharing to stop the spread of the password among people.
The streaming giant is testing a new feature to crack down on password sharing.
According to a Netflix spokesperson, a test is being designed to ensure "that people using Netflix accounts are authorized to do so."
The trend of binge-watching of TV series has exploded during the pandemic.
Netflix faces top competition from evolving competitors like Disney +, Hulu, and HBO Max.
The new test has been rolled out to the selected number of customers through the Netflix TV app.
Whenever a user chooses their profile on a shared account, a question pops up to verify the user account via text or email. If the user is unable to verify the account, they will be asked to set up a new account that comes with a 30 days free trial.
