At least five people have been killed and six have been injured in Somalia following a bombing outside a restaurant in the Somalian town of Baidoa Saturday.

Local authorities said Ari Wardahar, the governor of the Area, seemed to be the target for the blast. However, he is safe from the blast.

Two of the guards of the Wardahar's security guard have been injured in the attack.

Eyewitness Amin Madi said the blast, which looked very powerful, was heard all over the city and terrorized people.

Al-Qaeda-backed al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The group has been waging an armed struggle to establish Islamic rule in African countries.

Police have started an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, a bomb blast in Mogadishu's Hurriya district killed one soldier and injured several others.

Locals are worried that security is weak in Somalia. The problem is compounded by the delay in the general election earlier this year.
