Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced on Sunday that the country will receive more than 6.2 Million doses of Coronavirus vaccine to the COVAC initiative.

A few weeks earlier, Venezuelan authorities said some payments for the vaccine by Venezuela were blocked by banks due to US Sanctions.

GAVI vaccine alliance, which is collaborating with WHO for the COVAX initiative, said in early July that the COVAX had received payments from the South American country.

The WHO arm for Latin America, Pan American Health Organization said that Venezuela will be receiving doses of China's Sinopharm vaccine and Sinovac.

Venezuela is currently administrating doses of Cuba's Abdala vaccine, Sinopharm, and the Sputnik-V.
