Following the discovery of a body thought to be Gabby Petito's boyfriend, police continue their hunt.

Brian Laundrie, who had been named as a person of interest in the disappearance of his girlfriend, was last seen on Tuesday, three days after Ms. Petito's family reported her missing.

On Sunday, authorities said they recovered a body "consistent" with Ms. Petito's at a national park in Wyoming.

Since July, the YouTuber has traveled across US national parks in a modified van with her partner Mr. Laundrie.

Mr. Laundrie returned alone to his parent's house in Florida in the van on September 11th, and she was reported missing ten days later.

After returning from the vacation, the 23-year-old refused to speak with investigators.

Police have been chastised for neglecting to question him before he vanished last week.

Officers had requested assistance from Mr. Laundrie and his lawyer in their hunt before learning that he had been missing for three days on Friday.

His family's lawyer had contacted FBI investigators, claiming they wanted to discuss Mr. Laundrie's disappearance.

According to police, the chat with the Laundries family on Friday was the first time police had spoken with them in-depth about the case.

Officials have been looking for the missing boyfriend in Carlton Reserve, a large wildlife preserve in Florida with over 100 kilometers of trails and campgrounds.

Mr. Laundrie, according to his family, arrived in the area last week with only a rucksack. Investigators were told by family members that he had taken his car. However, the vehicle was later discovered at his family's home.

According to a police spokesperson, he may survive in reserve for a long time, depending on his talents.

Mr. Laundrie was not "missing," but rather "hiding," according to Ms. Petito's family's lawyers.

On Sunday, a body thought to be Ms. Petito was discovered in a remote section of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

The cause of death has yet to be established. The FBI stated that thorough forensic identification of the body has not yet been completed to determine that it is Ms. Petito's but that her family has been alerted.

Her father paid tribute to his daughter on social media, saying she "touched the world."
