FC Barcelona has agreed to hire Xavi Hernandez as their first-team coach.

The contract is for the balance of the current season and two more seasons after that, according to a statement made by Barcelona. Following Ronald Koeman's dismissal, Xavi has been in contract talks with Barcelona for the preceding few days.

Xavi had been the manager of Qatari club Al-Saad since May 2019, winning two Qatari cups and a 66 percent win record in 97 games. His only first-team managing experience came at Al-Saad.

Xavi was eager to return to Barcelona, where he spent 17 years as a first-team player after rising through the junior levels. Xavi's time at Barcelona was the absolute pinnacle of the club's success. He won the La Liga eight times, the Champions League four times, and the Copa del Rey three times.

He won all three titles in the same season in 2008-09 and 2014-15, giving him the rare distinction of winning two trebles.

Xavi's time at Barcelona was not only fruitful, but it also had a significant impact on the modern game.
