For the fourth day in a running, the French Public Health Agency (FPHA) recorded 34,446 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, an unprecedented scenario in months.

The FPHA also mentioned the higher incidence rates and the positive of diagnostic tests in its daily briefing (5.3 percent ).

In terms of hospitalizations, 9,181 people have been hospitalized, which is 200 higher than the number published on Thursday, with 1,563 patients in intensive care units.

FPHA recorded 7,940 hospitalized patients and 353 critically sick patients a week earlier.

Faced with a dire health scenario as a result of the fifth wave of illnesses, the French government devised a vaccine promotion campaign, focusing on the delivery of the third (booster) dosage and changing the minds of six million residents who had previously been unwilling to be vaccinated.
