A vehicle driving from Songho hamlet to a fair in Bandiagara town was ambushed and set on fire by armed persons.

In Mali, a suspected terrorist incident in Mopti claimed the lives of 31 people and injured 17 others, according to the transitional administration.

Armed persons assaulted a vehicle carrying goods from Songho hamlet to a fair in Bandiagara town on Friday.

According to stories in the local news, the assailants halted the burning truck despite the presence of pregnant women and children inside.

The transitional administration declared three days of national mourning in response to the deaths of civilians.

The African nation is dealing with a complicated social and political crisis as a result of increased attacks on civilians, the Malian army, and UN soldiers.

In less than a year, there have been two coups, and general elections have yet to be organized.

A Transitional Council led by Colonel Assimi Goita, who spearheaded both military coups and declared himself President, has taken over the executive powers.
