Latin America's News Agency teleSUR's Instagram account was deactivated without any prior notice, according to the news agency.

The Newsagency which is based in different countries in Lat-Am responded to the action by Facebook Inc "as another attempt to silence an independent outlet that gives voice to the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.

This act of censorship, according to the teleSUR crew, is just another attempt to stifle an independent source that speaks for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Faced with what had occurred, it reiterated its commitment to stay steadfast in exposing the truth and refusing to give in to those who seek to stifle it. In addition, the teleSUR team asked Internet users to utilize their new accounts to track their information.

Instagram touts itself as the essence of freedom of speech, according to social media users. The suppression of non-mainstream channels, on the other hand, transforms this social network into "another representation of transnational capital's hegemony," they argue.
