According to a local lawmaker, a powerful tornado ripped through a town in northern Texas on Thursday, causing widespread destruction, including the devastation of several mobile homes. ABC News reported one death and dozens of injuries.

Several million Americans in multiple southern and midwestern states were warned of severe weather as hazardous storms fueled by high temperatures pummeled the region.

The small community of Perryton in the Texas Panhandle was struck by a powerful tornado on Thursday evening, as evidenced by storm-chaser footage showing several structures destroyed or damaged, trees uprooted, and vehicles tossed.

After speaking with the town's mayor and Texas emergency management personnel, state representative Four Price wrote on Facebook, "They were struck by a tornado earlier this evening and will require a great deal of assistance and support."

"Numerous structures are harmed. He added, "The state is enlisting additional medical assistance to triage ER patients and scheduling resources." "This is a serious situation."

Paul Dutcher, the fire chief of Perryton, was quoted by ABC News as saying that one person died in a mobile home and more than seventy-five individuals were treated at a local hospital.

"We have many hospitalized patients who will require transport," Dutcher said.

Brian Emfinger, a storm chaser who captured footage of the industrial section of Perryton using a drone, stated that he observed "pretty serious destruction"

"Unfortunately, to the north-northwest of that location, mobile home after mobile home has been utterly destroyed. There is significant damage," Emfinger stated on the YouTube channel for Fox Weather.
